Naming Space is an award-winning documentary that explores 40 years of UNC Greensboro’s African American and African Diaspora Studies program and the influential individuals who shaped its legacy. 
Naming Space is the first documentary Maya Simone has ever directed.
Naming Space has been accepted into Best Shorts Competition and won the Award of Recognition- African American Short (Student) and Award of Recognition- Documentary Short (Student). The film also won Award of Recognition- Documentary Short (Student) at the Impact Doc Awards. Naming Space was accepted into African Film Festival Atlanta and Afrosouth Film Festival.
